A Certified Domain is a domain origination verification process that validates domain control and contact information of the domain registrant. A Certified Domain thus shows Web site visitors that the site's domain has passed 24hrsDomain.com's validation process and that the domain owner's credentials have been authenticated by a trusted authority. In other words: A Certified Domain is only issued to entities whose domain registration has been verified.

Once the Certified Domain has been issued, a Domain Origination Certified seal is added to the Whois listing for the domain in question. Additionally, the certificate holder may add the Domain Origination Certified seal on his/her Web site, thus providing visitors with visible evidence that the domain has been validated.

Because a Certified Domain provides visible evidence (in the form of the Domain Origination Certified seal) that a given domain has been validated and its registrant's credentials verified, a Certified Domain is particularly useful to owners of business Web sites and other sites that offer transactions and other activities of a sensitive nature (but who do not process credit card transactions). However, even purely informative sites can heighten their perceived legitimacy and trustworthiness by displaying the Domain Origination Certified seal.

Domain name information cannot be found — If 24hrsDomain.com, through its automated and manual processes, is unable to locate contact information for the domain administrator, the Certified Domain request is denied.

Certified Domain request denied by domain administrator — If the domain administrator, technical contact, or registrant rejects the Certified Domain request upon receiving a domain authorization email message, the request is denied. All recipients of the domain authorization message must approve the request.

Fraud detected — If 24hrsDomain.com's fraud screening for the domain in question raises valid suspicion of fraud, the Certified Domain is denied.

Automated phone call cannot be completed — If no valid phone number is submitted or the requestor fails to answer the phone, the Certified Domain request is denied.

Certified Domain validation is currently available with one-, two-, three-, four-, five-, or 10-year duration.

If the registration for a domain that has been validated expires before the Domain Origination Certified seal is set to expire, the Domain Origination Certified seal is terminated with the expiration of the domain registration.

24hrsDomain.com uses the phone number you provide to place an automated telephone call, which must be completed in order for 24hrsDomain.com to issue a Certified Domain seal for your domain. Along with the domain authorization and fraud screening processes, the phone verification helps ensure that domains indeed can be trusted.

24hrsDomain.com does not allow the following types of phone numbers for the telephone verification step:

Pre-paid mobile numbers

Toll-free numbers

Restricted numbers (including numbers that start with "0")

Numbers with the following area codes:

411

900

911

Non-fixed VoIP numbers

You do not need to submit any documents in order to obtain a Domain Origination Certified seal for your domain. However, you must provide your contact informaiton, including valid phone number, so that we can contact you for telephone number verification during the domain origination trace and validation process for your Certified Domain.

Once processed and issued, a Domain Origination Certified seal is added to the Whois listing for your domain. In addition, you are provided with HTML code that you can copy and paste into your Web site's source code, so that the Domain Origination Certified seal appears on your site.
